Ekaterina has over 20 years of experience in development finance and investment. She has been leading the Bank’s operations and the team in Tirana resident office since July 2021. Under her leadership, the EBRD has scaled up its support of the key sectors of the Albanian economy. Prior to her appointment in July 2021, Ekaterina has served in a variety of senior roles at EBRD including as an Adviser to the President, Head of Resident Office, Principal Risk Officer and, most recently, a senior member of the EBRD’s Private Equity team where she has led origination, execution and portfolio management of the equity investments in various sectors and countries. Ekaterina has represented EBRD on the boards of several investee companies.
The EBRD is one of the largest multilateral finance institutions in Albania, having provided over EUR 2.2 billion in financing for public and private sector projects since 1991. Its key strategic objectives in Albania include improving the investment climate and governance, promoting the green transition, and enhancing private sector competitiveness. At the end of 2024 EBRD’s portfolio in the country was more than EUR 1.1 billion with the annual new investments of EUR 200 million.
